Pollution Control Officer

Summary:

The Pollution Control Officer (PCO) will oversee and implement environmental compliance measures within the construction site. They will ensure that all activities adhere to relevant pollution control regulations and standards to minimize environmental impact.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement pollution control plans and strategies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  2. Conduct regular inspections of the construction site to identify potential sources of pollution and ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
  3. Monitor construction activities, including material handling, waste management, and erosion control measures, to prevent environmental contamination.
  4. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate pollution control measures into construction plans and activities.
  5. Provide training and guidance to site personnel on pollution prevention techniques, environmental regulations, and best practices.
  6. Maintain accurate records of environmental monitoring data, inspection reports, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  7. Respond promptly to environmental incidents, such as spills or violations, and implement corrective actions to mitigate environmental damage.
  8. Liaise with regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and stakeholders to facilitate permit applications, inspections, and compliance reporting.
  9. Stay informed about new environmental regulations, industry trends, and technological advancements relevant to pollution control in the construction sector.
  10. Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to promote a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability across the organization.

Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience as PCO
  • Construction background is an advantage but not required
