Legal Assistant

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal teams, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings.
  • Document Management: Assist in drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents such as contracts, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Client Communication: Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to schedule meetings, gather information, and provide updates as directed by attorneys.
  • File Management: Organize and maintain physical and electronic files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and accessible.
  • Research Assistance: Conduct legal research using online databases and resources to support attorneys in case preparation and document retrieval.
  • Billing and Timekeeping: Assist with legal billing processes, including preparing invoices, tracking billable hours, and maintaining billing records.
  • Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements.
  • Correspondence: Draft and proofread correspondence, emails, and memos on behalf of attorneys.
  • Office Operations: Manage office supplies, equipment maintenance, and other general administrative tasks to ensure smooth office operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field
  • Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a law office environment is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional demeanor in client interactions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
