A VP HR Learning and OD (Organizational Development) is a senior HR leader focused on strategic learning and development initiatives, organizational effectiveness, and talent management. They develop and implement learning programs, manage OD projects, and lead change management efforts to align with company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement learning and development strategies: This includes designing and delivering training programs, coaching, mentorship, and other learning experiences to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Manage organizational development projects: Conduct assessments, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness, including change management initiatives.
- Lead talent management programs: Oversee succession planning, career development, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Collaborate with senior leadership: Partner with leaders to understand their needs, develop solutions, and ensure that learning and OD initiatives align with business goals.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices: Maintain knowledge of current learning and OD trends and best practices to ensure programs are relevant and effective.
- Ensure compliance: Stay informed about and ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.
- Manage budget and resources: Oversee the budget for learning and OD programs, ensuring resources are used effectively and efficiently.
- Lead and develop a team: If the VP HR Learning and OD has a team, they would be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating their team members.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and communication skills: The VP HR Learning and OD needs to be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and lead teams.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen: They need to be able to understand the business context and develop learning and OD strategies that align with business goals.
- Knowledge of learning and development principles and practices: They need to be familiar with adult learning theory, instructional design, and different learning modalities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills: They need to be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Experience with change management: They need to be able to effectively manage organizational change initiatives.
- Experience with talent management programs: They need to be familiar with succession planning, career development, and performance management.
- A relevant degree or certifications: A bachelor's degree in HR, organizational development, or a related field is typically required, and a master's degree or professional certification can be beneficial.
