Tax Associate

Alabang, Muntinlupa, National Capital Region

The Accounting Associate is responsible for providing support to the accounting department by performing daily accounting tasks such as recording transactions, preparing reports, and reconciling accounts. This role ensures accuracy in financial records and assists in maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

A. Tax Preparation and Filing

● Assist in the preparation of client’s tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities, including Income Tax Return (ITR), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Percentage Tax, SLSP, QAP, and other relevant filings under the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations.
● Gather, organize, and review financial records and other required documents (invoices, receipts, contracts) to ensure completeness and accuracy for tax filing.
● Submit tax returns to the BIR (and other relevant agencies) through manual or electronic filing (e-Filing).
● Track and monitor tax deadlines to ensure timely filing of tax returns and payments to avoid penalties and interest.
● File other tax-related documents such as certificates of tax payments, BIR Form 2307 (Certificate of Creditable Tax Withheld), BIR Form 1701/1702, and others as required by the client or tax authority.
● Verify the accuracy of invoices, ensuring they match purchase services and receiving documents.
● Reconcile clients’ statements and resolve any discrepancies.


B. Financial Statement

● Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) for clients using an accounting system.
● Review client transactions in an accounting system to ensure that all revenue and expenses are properly recorded and classified.
● Reconcile all accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other financial statement accounts.
● Ensure the accuracy of trial balances and resolve discrepancies or errors in client accounts.
● Generate and review financial reports using an accounting system and ensure that they comply with accounting standards and company policies.
● Prepare adjusting entries in the accounting system and ensure that financial statements reflect true financial performance.
● Assist in the review of financial data to ensure completeness and accuracy before finalizing reports.


C. Bookkeeping and Data Entry

● Manage general ledger entries in the accounting system for clients, including posting transactions, adjusting entries, and categorizing expenses and income.
● Process client invoices, payroll entries, receipts, and other accounting documents.
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients in the accounting system, ensuring all transactions are recorded on a timely basis.
● Track and reconcile VAT and other tax-related transactions, ensuring accurate reporting for tax filings.


D. Client Interaction and Support

● Communicate with clients to gather financial data, clarify discrepancies, and provide status updates on financial reporting.
● Offer guidance to clients on financial reporting best practices and recommend improvements to accounting processes.
● Respond to client inquiries regarding financial statements, bookkeeping issues, or tax-related matters.


E. Documentation and Record Keeping

● Ensure accurate and organized filing of financial records, supporting documentation, and tax-related documents in accordance with regulatory requirements and firm policies.
● Maintain a secure system of storing financial data, ensuring all information is protected and accessible only to authorized personnel.
● Provide detailed audit trails for all transactions, ensuring that proper documentation exists for all financial reporting.


F. Software Proficiency

● Demonstrate proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
● Utilize accounting software to perform tasks such as data entry, report generation, and reconciliation.


G. Internal Collaboration

● Work closely with senior accountants and other team members to ensure coordinated workflow between bookkeeping, financial reporting, and tax preparation functions.
● Collaborate with the tax team to ensure that financial data aligns with tax reporting requirements.
● Assist in the preparation of client budgets, financial forecasts, and projections when requested by senior management or clients.


H. Other Tasks

● Other tasks deemed necessary to be done as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

● Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
● At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in an accounting firm handling tax, accounting, and bookkeeping.
● Knowledge of BIR tax regulations, basic accounting principles, and procedures.
● Preferably Female, but Male applicants are welcome.


Skills & Competencies

● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, and other accounting software).
● Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
● Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills.
● Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Effective verbal and written communication skills.
