Senior Accountant - Australian Taxation (Remote)

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR AN ACCOUNTANT

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team. Ultimately, you will play a vital role in the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with the law and accuracy in accounting and taxation.

Our client’s firm is one of Melbourne’s Trusted business advisors and accounting firm. They specialize in catering services in Private Enterprise serving wide range of industries from Property Development, Logistics Healthcare, Import/Export and many more . The team is composed of friendly, experienced accountants that are geared toward building long term
relationships with its client partners.

Requirements as an Accountant:

● You must be a graduate of BS Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CA certification is a plus but not required
● 5yrs+ and above proven experience as an Public Practice Accountant
● Advanced knowledge of MYOB and XERO is a must
● You must have 3-4 years’ experience in Australian Taxation/Public Practice
● Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) & financial procedures
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with advanced MS Excel knowledge (familiarity with
formulas, VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
● Self-driven and highly resilient
● Excellent written and spoken English with ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders
● Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Your Responsibilities As an Accountant would be:

● Provide support to the team members resolving any issue or questions
• Preparation of Australian company, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and individual annual tax returns including preparation of tax reconciliations and key adjustments between accounting and taxation profits.
• Provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.
• Preparation of BAS, End of Quarter reporting and detailed analysis of business performance.
• Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
• Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
• Contributing to month and quarter end reporting to help build clients knowledge and profitability.
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Maintain financial security and confidentiality by following internal controls.
• Assisting business owners to comply with the governing laws applicable to their business including federal, state, and local and advising management on opportunities and possible actions.
• Prepare special purpose financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Reviewing and working on client accounting software packages.
